Last Dinner with Sandy Wilson
Hello psych APRNs,

There will be a final Sandy Wilson program this coming Monday. She will be moving to Florida in March, but has agreed to do this one last program last minute. Aspen will be opening on Monday night just for this, but BMS needs to have a certain, unusually higher, number of attendees.

For this reason, they are hoping to get as many confirmations from those planning to attend, if possible. Please RSVP to advanced_therapy@sbcglobal.net as soon as possible as the invitations will not be available until the day of the program.

We look forward to seeing everyone Monday night. An email will be sent out with more details, so if you do not receive an email, please email us for more info and to RSVP!

Bill 6306 Passed!

Terrific news:

The House passed Bill 6306 to list and credential APRNs as Primary Care Physicians on all insurance plans. The tallied votes came out to 114 Yes and 31 No. This is a huge victory for us!

Please make sure to contact your senators to make sure that they know how important this is to the APRN community. Once the senate votes and if it passes, the bill will become a law. We want to make sure that happens.

To do so, visit www.ct.gov, click on Senate, and you will be shown an e-mail directory for all senators. Click to find your legislator if you are unsure who your senator is.

On a related note, the state of New York has a bill before their legislature to remove the collaborative agreement. If they are successful, Connecticut will be next.

Spread the word to your colleagues as well and get them involved! And, if you are not already a member, be sure join CTAPRNs.

OLR Research Report: Nurse Practitioners (APRNs)

Here's a link to an August 10, 2009 response by Attorney John Kasprak regarding "information on nurse practitioners in Connecticut, including their scope of practice and the meaning of the term 'collaborative practice'" as well as "how Maine and Massachusetts address these issues."
